Quick update

Greg and I went to the doctor for our ultrasound Friday to check out how big baby boy Pyne is getting. He is so cute! He was measuring in the 100th percentile about 3 weeks ago, when they thought he weighed about 6.5 to 7 pounds. Today, they measured him at about 7 pounds, 10 ounces-closer to the 67th percentile and more on track for his due date-which is only 19 days away! It honestly has flown by!
I am writing my "things to take to the hospital list" and will pack it sometime this weekend. Any suggestions on things to take?

YEAH!! I am So excited for you.
Ok, what to take...
-don't take jammies with bottoms. just a longer nightgown is way more comfortable. If you have a c-section, you're not going to be able to pull your pants down anyway!
-If you're going to nurse, bring a boppy pillow. My nurses didn't think they were any better than a bunch of pillows propped up, but I thought it was fabulous!
-I bought those Oil of Olay cleansing cloths for your face. They were great. YOu just add water and lather them up. I used them a lot right after I had Trey because it was hard to get out of bed. Dan just lathered them up and brought it to me in bed. Then i could feel a little better with a clean face when visitors came.

I know I'll think of more, but I guess that's my top 3!

I was going to say face wipes too. They actually make some that don't need any water. They were the best because you really don't want to move. On that note, I also recommend bringing a hand held mirror to freshen up from bed. Bring your own pillow. Lots and lots of change for vending machine snacks. Socks with the rubber slipper bottom so you don't fall. And I highly recommend leaving the hospital in a loose dress. The last thing I wanted to do was put pants on. Oh and bring shampoo/conditioner/body wash that you love. That first shower after you have your baby is the best! I am sooo excited for you! That baby boy is coming soon!

If you are going to nurse bring some Lanolin. Also take advantage of the Lactation consultant...they really helped me!!! Jessica said breastfeeding shouldn't hurt and if it doew the L.C. can help!!
Good luck we are sooo happy for you!!

I can't wait to meet Baby Boy Pyne! Here's what I'd suggest you take:
--Food/snacks like granola bars or whatever for Greg since he won't get fed while you will.
--Cards and movies for while you are waiting for baby to come (well, provided you get an epidural and could actually concentrate on that since contractions will hurt way too much to concentrate on games otherwise)
--Video camera so we can see video footage on your blog!

Good luck! We're so excited for you!

Oh, one more thing. Get a regular nursing bra but I'd also recommend buying a sleeping nursing bra. I wear one every night and it helps so much and is comfortable. I don't think I ever wore a nursing bra in the hospital cuz I just stayed in the ugly gowns, but you may want one there.

Oh bring cute clothing and blankets for the baby for pictures! Hospital blankets aren't soft at all and their hats are usually knit and scratchy. I assumed you just had to use all their stuff but bring your own!

Definitely bring lots of pillows for you. Hospital pillows stink and more pillows are always so helpful when cuddling and nursing your new baby.

SOCKS! Your feet can get so cold in the delivery room, they usually keep it really chilly in there. And flip flops for the shower. :)

Congrats!! Good luck!! Can't wait to see pictures!!

Well, I highly recommend packing a panini press, cute purses, some peanut butter (for late night cravings), and your lipstick.
Well- if you can't take it all...at least take the lipstick. I certainly know how you can't stand to be in public without it on.
And some high heels-- cause you certainly want to look good from head to toe too :-)

Finally- put it all into a school backpack since if you went to Europe for a month with one, why can't you have a baby with it too?

Aren't I helpful?

Look out for a package from Auntie Alyssa.... hugs!

Yay! I can't wait! I'd say having your own pillows is key. Also, have snacks around because the hospital only feeds during their normal meal times and you might want something in between...and Greg might get pretty hungry too! Slippers are nice too...because you won't really socks under your covers (unless you like that) but its nice to have them if you want to walk around a bit (or just for the trips to the potty...there will be a lot of those).

Good luck!!! Can't wait! Remember that it's ok to let them keep baby in the nursery at night so you can rest. It's hard to sleep with them in the room at first because they make lots of little grunts and squeaks and you'll be constantly making sure they're still breathing...and, of course, they are. Just have them bring him in to nurse and then call them to take him back out. I think that's the only way I made it since my labor was in the middle of the night... I was way behind on sleep.
